The Garden House Nursery originally opened in 1989 providing exceptional childcare in Fulwood. Moving to its current premises in 1994, the nursery has gradually grown and we are now registered for 72 children.
We take great care to get to know our parents, carers and children individually to ensure that any requests or concerns are addressed quickly and everything runs smoothly and correctly.
Our rooms are based on Winnie the Pooh characters and we endeavour to provide a warm family atmosphere in a clean, bright and safe environment so children can feel secure and confident.
We benefit from highly qualified staff – 93% our of staff team are qualified in Child Care, 6 have BA HONS in Early Childhood studies, 3 with Early Years Teacher Status.
We benefit from staff who speak many languages and Language groups feature weekly in our early years curriculum – this is based on the children we have attending.
Hello, my name is Christina. I am originally from Leicester but have lived in Holmfirth for over 25 years. I am married with 3 boys and a cat. I have just become a nanna to a little boy, so I am surrounded by boys!
I have been working with children for over 20 years, firstly as a nurse in A&E, as a childminder for over 9 years, as an Early Years Tutor going around nurseries in the north of the country teaching apprentices and also as a manager in 2 nurseries. I have my degree in Early Years and also my Early Years Professional Status (now known as Early Years Teacher). I am a qualified first aider and also hold my mental health first aid qualification.
I love working with children, as it is amazing to help support and see the fantastic little people they become, all with different personalities, imaginations and strengths.
I love Leicester City Football Club, spending time with my family and friends, listening to a wide range of music, Lego, collecting Piggin ornaments, going to museums and art galleries, Art Deco/Nouveau especially Charles Rennie Mackintosh, being with animals and being outside. Oh, and I am a huge Harry Potter fan as well!!

All of the Garden House team are experienced, well qualified and committed individuals handpicked for their caring and compassionate nature. The nursery has it’s own experienced housekeeper who pays particular attention to food safety and to the importance of meeting children’s special dietary requirements. Each of our rooms at the Garden House nursery are developed in line with learning needs at every age. Children engage in outdoor play every day and enjoy the opportunity for fresh air and exercise in one of our five outdoor areas. We provide a range of toys, activities and areas to explore to ensure the children remain motivated and most of all have lots of fun through learning and play.
We firmly believe in working together with parents at the Garden House nursery to ensure childcare is exclusively tailored to individual children’s needs. We are committed to daily updates on each child’s development and welcome parents feedback at all times. We are open 51 weeks of the year from 7.45am to 6.15pm to ensure that your childcare needs are covered whenever you need it. For half days, our session changeover time is 1pm. We are closed on bank holidays and the week between Christmas and New year. At the Garden House we offer a bright and safe environment so children can feel secure and confident with a quality daycare .

We have 5 lovely outdoor areas and free access to a gorgeous woodland area where the children benefit from ‘woodland’ sessions. The nursery is well established (over 30 years!) within the local community and comes highly recommended by all.
